KIA Stonic vs. Honda City | 1-1 Comparison After Price Cut
KIA, a South Korean car manufacturer, recently dropped the pricing of its Stonic EX+ by 1.5 million PKR as a goodwill gesture of customer care and to boost sales. Previously, Stonic shared its price category with the Corolla 1.6X.
Surprisingly, now, after the price reduction, if you’re going to buy City’s base variant lineup, you also have a choice of the KIA Stonic EX+.
So, which car is now the best value for the money? We’ll compare their specs and reviews, and you’ll decide which one sounds good to you.
We’re using the Honda City 1.2 CVT and KIA Stonic EX+, as they both fall within the same price range.
- Honda City 1.2 CVT: PKR 4,689,000
- KIA Stonic EX+: PKR 4,767,000
Our POV on Both Cars
KIA Stonic is a combination of two words: “Stylish” and “Iconic.” This crossover is somewhat of a mashup of an SUV and a hatchback in a very compact design style. It seems like a generation upgrade of the Suzuki Swift with a more glamorous and better-looking interior, a bigger engine, a bit more ground clearance and length, and tougher styling for SUV taste. In our POV, especially after the price reduction, Stonic will now become irresistible to people who once drove little local and JDM hatchbacks. Also, while talking with the salesperson of KIA, we were impressed with its hi-tech features, and now under 4.7 million, it does make sense to buy!
Coming to the Honda City, it is a very simple sedan, especially, in the base variant; you don’t get anything fancy or hi-tech like Stonic. The only thing we like about City compared to Stonic is the boot space, so you can tell everyone that you now have a “diggi wali gari.” Styling-wise and interior-wise, Stonic is a much better model with a lot of hi-tech goodies and a hell-lot of safety features that even City’s Aspire variant doesn’t offer. But again, if you’re buying a car only for the family and you need a lot of boot space and don’t care about features, safety, and design, City can be a good option.
Exterior
Here we’ll do 1-1 comparison of both cars:
- City has 15” steel wheels, while Stonic has 16” alloy wheels
- City doesn’t come with fog lights, while Stonic comes with fog lights
- Even Stonic has a sunroof, but City has a plain roof
- Stonic offers adjustable headlights, while City doesn’t
- Even Stonic has a spoiler with a brake lamp mounted on it, but City has a simple brake lamp behind the back mirror without a spoiler
- Stonic also comes with parking sensors
- Stonic offers LED headlamps with LED DRLs, while City comes with halogen lamps and LED DRLs.
Interior
Interior highlights of the Stonic:
- An eye-appealing and good-looking dual-tone piano black interior with yellow accents on the dashboard, center console, and on seat stitching, this yellow tone looks really nice, though.
- 6 SRS airbags, 2 on front, 2 on B pillars, and 2 side curtain airbags
- Dual-zone climate control
- 8” infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- Sunroof
- Cruise control
- Multimedia steering
- TPRS
- Auto light control sensors
- 6 speakers with tweeters
- Front and back USB ports for phone charging
- Push start
- Rear camera for parking assistance with parking sensors
- Overhead sunglasses cover
Honda City interior highlights:
- Multimedia steering
- 7” infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- Front and rear power outlet
- Tilt and telescopic steering
We’ve only covered the highlights and not those basic things like center console, power steering, MID display and power windows, it’s not fancy when the price tag is round about to 5 million.
Under the Bonnet
KIA Stonic highlights:
KIA Stonic comes with 1.4L (basically 1,368cc to save tax) multi-point injection technology mated with a 6-speed automatic that produces over 99 HP of power at 6K RPM and 133 Nm of torque at 4K RPM.
Honda City highlights:
Honda City uses a 1.2L (basically 1,199cc to save tax) MPI engine mated with a 5-speed CVT that produces 88 HP of power at 6,000 and 110 Nm of torque at 4,800 RPM.
Overall, power-wise, Honda City might feel underpowered, but the KIA Stonic’s power-to-weight ratio is well-balanced, and the Stonic also has better road grip.
seems an unrealistic comparison of stonic with city.
a perfect example could be stonic versus swift (hatchback vs hatchback).
And don’t forget to add fuel eco of both cars. On avg at 6 to 9 and the other 11 to 13 due to CVT.
This is 100 percent realistic comparison. No doubt kia stonic is is far better than Yaris Swift or Honda city.
Heavy on fuel and maintainance. Parts are readily not available in market. Only dealership have parts which are quite expensive.
It’s not like Toyota or Suzuki
Stonic vs Swift is the main comparison as both are hatchback
But stonic don’t have much space in back seats like city does
Quite surprised by price reduction, never saw before
Good comparison
There is No match between stonic and honda city cars but in real pakistanies are crazy about fuel average not features
I think unrealistic comparison only with city
How abt millage conparison
Good comparison of the same price bracket
@Raja Maja
I guess is for the price they are so close, that someone could consider the sub compact SUV segment.
For the same amount of money if someone can get more, he will sure go for more
Now only Proton Saga is cheap for a sub compact sedan with the top variant priced 4 100 000 PKR,
It’s stylish and iconic not speed and tonic for God’s sake 🙏
Excellent approach for latest stylist 2024 model is Kia Stonic made in Korea.
Stonic can use in city , Motorwayas well as for hill areas.
Fuel consumption comparison is not mentioned.

Aoa how much price kiastonic top variants and cash delivery or booking
Still below 1500 cc cars are unreachable to the general public. I think addition of solar system and good batteries may reduce the fuel consumption and will be manageable cars
let us know more cars to compare with Stonic. Swift and Yaris is noted, how about Vitz?
@Ansar
The EX+ that i’ve mentioned in this blog is the top variant and it’ll cost you 4.7 million on full cash. the 4.7 is exclusive of insurance cost and tax by government
@Hamid
I agree, most of the KIA cars have low fuel economy, Stonic hardly does 9-10 in city while City can easily do 12-14 in city
@Hammad
I agree that Stonic lacks in legroom but just look at the features of Stonic. It’s just a joke to compare old school City with hi-tech modern Stonic, but I’ve done this comparison because they both are in the same price category.
@Mohammad Asim
Adding more in your comment, only one single headlight of Stonic costs 2 lacs and 30 thousand (approx.). But features and drive wise, it’s a 10/10 VFM deal
SPEED AND TONIC!!!! where did you get that from? It is STYLISH AND ICONIC. At least you can a brief look at Wikipedia before publishing.
Fuel average is an important factor,
Even my vigo 2kd has better average than any Kia car.
@Ali
SPEED and TONIC, confirmed it from Top Gear’s blog. Anyways, I’ve updated its definition to STYLISH and ICONIC as per the Wikipedia. Thanks for updating!!
Totally biased and unrealistic comparison.
City does not come with fog lamps, what rubbish.
Stonic full option should have been compared with full option city at least.
And being sedan, itself is a differentiating factor.
@Ali
Wikipedia is not a reliable source of informations, just check the car manufacturer website directly
First of all I am using from last year Stonic I recommend to all buy Stonic leaves old style cars we need to do thanks to them how lunches new cars rather we are using old type of cars without any future I am really enjoying Stonic full option car in this price you live it.
no match with Honda. its a brand and well established company. moreover Honda is quite comfortable car with luxury and sedan shape.
so my 100% vote to Honda
Soon City 1.5L Aspire CVT will be in Stonic price range…then all this comparison will be null and void.
The car’s mileage depends upon the driver’s style. I have had a stonic for 1.5 years and I’ve been averaging 12 km/l in city with AC. People comparing 1.2 cvt with 1.4 A/T, stonic does not get the lag CVT transmission offers. CVT is meant for city travelling. On long routes, it does’nt matter whether the car is CVT or not. Stonic by far, offers the best mileage figures for any KIA car.
New prices of cars after levy of revised 25 % GST will not make much difference and things would remain the same as before.
