this sensor is found in a lot of other cars too, corolla diesel outside Pakistan had this too, and so did some early toyota crowns, later ones shut it down from the HVAC ECU - as it was using it to monitor engine temp anyway.
early ones with M engines had this - its basically a switch like a radiator fan switch but has a very high cut in point.
Also in suzuki cultus, margalla etc. - on sanden systems its the sleeve that is clamped on the coolant intake tube, while the Denso systems have this switch on the cylinder head.
