Switching to new platform is fine but I dont understand why the admin team is so reluctant to change the issues which users face and in fact even acknowledge these issues?
Why people tend to like the previous format better? Did any one of you did honest assessment and realized that there are some things which were done much better than in Discourse? So why not admitting them and try to embed that in the new platform?
I'll give a few examples:
1) The notification bar is all messed up - I can see notifications of my 10 year old posts still which are no longer relevant. While I have to scroll through tens of messages on the running posts. Also, some posts on which I have recently commented are not visible in notification bar even when people are constantly taking the discussion forward while the 10 year old thread notifications are visible.
2) The main forum page is really bad. In previous forum page, you could see all the main topics and sub-sections and threads in it by clicking on it. Here you see only top 4 threads in each main topic and this is not user friendly!
3) Page numbers!!! If you log in to website after a gap of say weeks, it's a real pain to navigate through the responses that take some time to load every time. Plus the biggest advantage of page number is that you can remember the page number on which some topic of interest is mentioned - for you to visit it later. For example, if some user has provided really handy info about pros and cons of a newly launched car on page 6, which I want to refer again and again, it's not practically possible now.
4) Also the overall user interface (color scheme, fonts, spacing etc) is inferior to the old format which looked more pleasing to the eye. Initially I thought this is because I'm used to the old format and new one will take time to grow - but that's unfortunately not the case.
So, kindly consider addressing the above issues and not just disregard them completely by stubbornly thinking that we users are just complaining out of our addiction of old format and resistance to change, which is not the case I assure you.
